About Berties Blocks

In 2020, amidst the lockdowns that confined many, I found myself contemplating how to effectively utilise my newly acquired free time. While admiring a recently acquired piece of wall art, I was inspired to create something similar. My artistic journey commenced with the creation of small block art pieces, where I experimented with various angles and colour combinations. With over two decades of experience in the paint manufacturing industry, I had developed a keen eye for colour. Initially, this hobby transformed into a passionate pursuit. As I refined my techniques and skills, I produced unique artworks for friends and family. The positive feedback I received encouraged me to sell my creations on a marketplace platform. As demand increased, I transitioned to Etsy, which provided a more suitable environment for showcasing my art. My desire to diversify my offerings was further propelled by customer requests for bespoke pieces, leading to the introduction of my cylindrical art collection. By the end of 2023, after twenty-eight years in the paint manufacturing sector, I made the decision to transition my passion into a full-time business, leaving my previous career behind. This decision was not difficult; I often felt frustrated by the lack of time to explore new ideas, and as a perfectionist, I recognised that there was insufficient space for both my career and my artistic aspirations. At this juncture, I am pleased to commit my full attention to Bertie’s Blocks, with a primary focus on developing innovative designs and colour schemes. I derive immense satisfaction from crafting these pieces and experience profound fulfilment when commissioned to create bespoke designs. There is nothing more gratifying than receiving positive feedback and witnessing my wall art proudly displayed in residential, commercial, and communal settings. In 2024, my wife, Sarah, embarked on this venture with me after several years of experience in the finance industry. Her invaluable contributions encompass a wide range of responsibilities within Bertie’s Blocks, including the preparation of wooden dowels for painting, customer service management, and bookkeeping.
