About Berties Blocks
Born from lockdown. Built from passion.
In 2020, with the world paused and time suddenly abundant, I found myself staring at a piece of wall art and thinking: I could make that. What started as a quiet experiment with angles, colour, and small wooden blocks quickly became something I couldn't put down.
With over two decades in the paint manufacturing industry, colour had always been my language — but this was the first time I got to speak it on my own terms.
Friends and family were the first to hang my pieces. Their enthusiasm pushed me to Etsy, where demand grew steadily. Customer requests for bespoke work led to new collections, including my cylindrical art series. By the end of 2023, after 28 years in my previous career, I made the decision that had been building for years: to leave and commit fully to Bertie's Blocks.
It wasn't a difficult choice. As a perfectionist, I knew there wasn't room for both — and the art always won.
Today, I focus entirely on developing new designs and colour combinations. There's nothing quite like seeing a commissioned piece displayed in someone's home, office, or shared space. In 2024, my wife Sarah joined the business, bringing her background in finance and a steady hand across everything from production to customer care.
Every piece we make is crafted with intention. We hope you find one that belongs in your space.
